I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the people at Mia's who came
up to my Father and I and offered their condolences for my Uncle Dave

tragedy with all of your wonderful stories of my Uncle Dave.
He was a truly wonderful and incredible person. Words cannot express what
his loss means.
Thank you to everyone for making him feel at home at Mia's.

http://www.gabikerbashes.com/ride_reports/benefit_for_ashley.htm

Well all the Toy runs are over, riding season is starting so that means that
it's time for people to start putting on benefit runs. The ride for Ashley
was the first benefit run of the season that I attended. The ride started
and ended at Mia's and was sponsored by the American Legion Riders.
As per my normal policy, I don't regularly attend events unless they are
sponsored by either local riding groups or held in biker friendly places.
This run qualified under both criteria. Mia's is a fairly new biker
friendly bar on the scene. Since Double Vision closed in Jan, it seems that
Mia's as long as Spotlight are taking over as the biker bars in Paulding
county. The ride was held on Sat, March first and we were blessed by nice
spring weather. I got to Mia's about 11:30 in the morning and there were
already about 75 bikes in the parking lot.

I hopped off my scoot, and wandered around the parking lot for a bit saying
hello to people I knew and talking to a few others that i didn't know.
After a bit of glad handing, I headed inside to get something to drink and
to register for the ride. Mia and the waitresses were doing an excellent job
of taking care of everyone prior to the start of the ride.

I went over to the registration desk, to find out the scoop on who Ashley is
and what the benefit is about. You can click here to read the full story.
I donated my 20 bucks and then did a bit more socializing while waiting for
the ride to start. Although it was scheduled to start at noon, bikes were
still pulling in so the organizers held off the start time for a bit in
order to give everyone time to register. I ran into my buddy Spider who was
looking dapper as usual.

My club brother Red, finally decided to make an appearence, fashionably
late as usual. A few minutes after Red showed, it was time for the safety
briefing. An ALR member gave the pre-ride briefing and it was then time to
line up for a scenic 70 mile escorted ride through west Ga. The ride itself
was a bit different from alot of benefit rides. We were escorted the entire
way by the Paulding Co. Sherriff's dept and the ride was non- stop, meaning
no stopping for lights, stop signs, peeing eating etc. We just buzzed along
the country roads of west Ga at speeds of up to 80mph. Red and I rode in the
very back, right in front of the last escort. Kind of different cruising
down highway 120 at 80 with a cop behind me without me getting a ticket!
The ride ended at Mia's where they had another band playing and of course
food and drinks were available. I hung out for about an hour or so after
the ride and headed home. I did go back to Spotlights later on in the
evening but that's another story. I spoke with Chad from ALR later on that
night and he told me that the ride raised $4500 to help out Ashley's
family. In a nutshell, it was a good ride. We had great weather, no break
downs, and an excellent host and most importantly the community came
together to help out a family in need!

Thank you Mia
